The £100 Season Ticket - Back your Club

Published in Club_news Written by

The £100 Season Ticket

Following the tremendous support for the last game at The Lane v Chester on Saturday, we now move into one of the most crucial periods in the Club's History.

Our £100 Season Ticket offer will run until this Friday and should we not make the target an announcement will be made next week.

The Office Hours are open as follows for the rest of the week:

Thursday 10am - 3pm & 6pm-8pm

Friday 10am-3pm & 6pm-8pm

There has been a very steady increase in pledges of support, including many pledges from people who do not watch the Team but they do not want the Club to fold. An example today is Mr John Corbett whose Father and Uncle played in the 1929 Birmingham League Championship Winning Side. He proudly brought his fathers winning medal into the Club and for the first time made a visit to The Lane, despite living nearby the ground in Worcester. He said, "It is been a very emotional visit coming to the Club to see where my Father played. I have never supported the Club but I will do my bit to ensure its survival."

Support has increased dramatically over the past week as expected but it is not enough. We need YOU to take action now and back your Club. The office is open until 8pm on Thursday and Friday Evening.

LAST NIGHT AT THE LANE

Published in Club_news Written by

Tonight, Monday 18th March Worcester City FC will be staging its last Floodlit game at St Georges Lane before the ground closes in June.

To most City fans Monday Night was always the best night for football and until recent years always brought in a decent crowd. Some of City's greatest nights have been under the lights on a Monday night but with Sky TV armchair football has taken over from watching the live action.

City's last five figure crowd at The Lane came in 1978 when Newport County came for a FACup second round replay watched by 10223, a game which City lost 2-1.

In 1983 5353 turned up for an FACup 1st Round replay v Aldershot in which Paul Moss scored twice in a 2-1 win.

In more recent times 2711 turned up for a League match which was switched to the Friday night due to the fact that it was our Centenary Year, played against the first ever opponents at The Lane, Stafford Rangers. In City's last good FA Cup run a 1st Round replay v Chippenham saw the reduced capacity reached before the kick off which saw fans locked out with over 4600 inside the ground.

The match v Gainsborough Trinity Kicks Off at 7.45pm, so for the last time, come along to the Lane to watch the match under the St Georges Lane lights.

£100 Season Ticket Offer

Published in Club_news Written by

The £100 season ticket was Launched by Hartlepool United a couple of seasons ago and various other imaginative schemes to increase support have been launched by other clubs such as Bradford City.

Next Season we will be playing our Home Games at Aggborough and we too thought an imaginative scheme was needed to secure our immediate future.

There is a huge amount of work being carried out by a small number of people which will secure the future of Worcester City FC. For this to be successful we need support from many more people in Worcester. Our  offer is aimed at a large amount of people paying a small amount of money regardless of whether they actual attend ANY games next season.

This week we received a donation of £100 from a house bound pensioner who cannot make it to games and will not be travelling to Aggborough. "I want to do my bit, The Club has to survive" were his exact words. This person is one of many that does not wish to see this Club go under. It is this type of support which will see us through a very difficult time.

There are some supporters who are basing their decision whether to support the Club based entirely on results on the pitch. Unfortunately if we are not successful off the pitch over the next year, then there will not be a pitch to play on, never mind a winning team so backing from every supporter of Worcester City FC is absolutely crucial.

Whatever exciting Plans emerge, they will not be achieved if we cannot survive the immediate future.

Please do not base your decision on what other people are doing. Our message is aimed at YOU & we need YOUR support.

For those Fans wishing to pay more than the £100 please let us know on your season ticket application form.
